Job summary

Big Whiskey's American Restaurant & Bar is seeking a friendly host/hostess to warmly greet guests and coordinate seating to balance customer flow. You will open doors, take names, provide wait times, and relay messages to servers as needed. A positive demeanor and punctual, customer-focused service are essential.

The role supports a fast-paced dining room with flexible scheduling and employee discounts. Training will cover guest etiquette and table presentation to ensure a welcoming atmosphere.

Qualifications

• No previous restaurant experience required.
• Must be able to stand for long periods (up to 5 hours).
• Clear and effective communication in the predominant language of guests.
• Exceptional grooming habits.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly on arrival.
• Open the front door for guests entering or leaving.
• Record guest names and party size when seating is limited.
• Call out name and party size when tables become available.
• Provide guests with estimated waiting time.
• Accommodate special seating requests whenever possible.
• Seat guests based on preferences and service flow.
• Help bus tables and keep floors clean.
• Keep hostess stand and closet clean and stocked.
• Clean all windows in the foyer.
• Stock bathrooms and perform hourly checks.
• Present menus and inform guests of their server.
• Relay messages to servers as needed.
• Thank guests and invite them to return.
• Answer the phone with a friendly greeting.
