Job summary

The Post Oak in Galveston, TX is seeking a friendly Host to greet guests, guide them to tables, and present menus. You will maintain knowledge of daily specials and assist with seating and to-go orders, supporting servers during service.

Qualifications

• 1 year of restaurant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Overview

A Host is the first point of contact for guests and is responsible for presenting exceptional customer service to ensure the guests’ first impression of the restaurant is a positive one.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome guests as they arrive at the restaurant with a genuine smile and positive attitude
• Engage with guests, anticipate their needs, and respond promptly to any inquiries or concerns
• Maintain knowledge of the menu, daily specials, and restaurant promotions to provide accurate information to guests
• Handle guest complaints or issues professionally or bring them to the manager when necessary
• Assist with running food, delivering and/or refilling guests’ drinks
• Guide guests to their tables and present them with menus
• Take to-go orders over the phone and in person
• Engage with guests to ensure they're happy with food and service
• Refill drinks and clear plates as needed during guest’s dining experience
• Provide great customer service
• Provide highchairs and other requested items to the guest
• Responsibilities include complying with all federal and state laws, including the FLSA tip regulations regarding tip reporting, sharing, and minimum wage requirements
