Job summary

The Post Oak in Galveston, TX is seeking a friendly Host to welcome guests and ensure a positive first impression.

Your duties include greeting guests, guiding them to tables, answering questions, and assisting servers. A strong command of English and basic math are required.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of restaurant experience preferred.
  • Excellent organization and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and a customer-focused approach.
  • Team player who works well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work weekdays, weekends, nights, mornings, and holidays.
  • Must be able to read and write in English and perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guests as they arrive at the restaurant with a genuine smile and positive attitude.
  • Engage with guests, anticipate their needs, and respond promptly to any inquiries or concerns.
  • Maintain knowledge of the menu, daily specials, and restaurant promotions to provide accurate information to guests.
  • Handle guest complaints or issues professionally or bring them to the manager when necessary.
  • Assist with running food, delivering and/or refilling guests’ drinks.
  • Guide guests to their tables and present them with menus.
  • Take to-go orders over the phone and in person.
  • Engage with guests to ensure they're happy with food and service.
  • Refill drinks and clear plates as needed during guest’s dining experience.
  • Provide great customer service.
  • Provide highchairs and other requested items to the guest.
  • Responsibly comply with all federal and state laws, including FLSA tip regulations.

Overview

A Host is the first point of contact for guests and is responsible for presenting exceptional customer service to ensure the guests’ first impression of the restaurant is a positive one.


Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guests as they arrive at the restaurant with a genuine smile and positive attitude
  • Engage with guests, anticipate their needs, and respond promptly to any inquiries or concerns
  • Maintain knowledge of the menu, daily specials, and restaurant promotions to provide accurate information to guests
  • Handle guest complaints or issues professionally or bring them to the manager when necessary
