The primary objective of the host is to create positive first and last impressions of the Iron Cactus.
Essential Functions
- Greets each Guest with a variety of unique and tasteful greetings.
- Creates a fast-paced, yet unobtrusive atmosphere for our Guests by tailoring pace and energy to each Guest.
- Maintains friendly, professional temperament, and a neat, clean image.
- Maintains eye contact with Guests.
- Anticipates and inquires about Guests’ needs.
- Ensures that Guests never leave unhappy or dissatisfied.
- Never allows a mediocre Guest experience.
- Is alert to light and music levels, overall ambiance.
- Demonstrates pride in their ability to communicate, describe and answer every question regarding the Iron Cactus.
- Is equally effective at greeting, seating, and working the list.
- Rotates seating effectively.
- Communicates with team and management.
- Is organized and professional.
- Makes new hires feel welcome.
- Exhibits sense of urgency and walks with purpose.
- Performs restroom checks intermittently.
- Follows proper safety and sanitation procedures.
- Completes assigned back-up duties as required. Performs open, shift change and/or closing duties.
- Restocks necessary supplies.
- Discusses problem areas with manager.
- Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems.
- Maintains a good working relationship with all employees and purveyors.
- Notifies manager of any Guest that appears to be dissatisfied.
Requirements
Hosts are required to take care of Guests with 100% compliance to state law, federal law, and company standards.
Qualification Standards
- 16 years of age or older
- Courteous, friendly, and professional demeanor
- Able to pass all quizzes and tests, and complete all workbook assignments
- Neatly dressed, well-groomed in company approved attire
- Stands and walks during 6-8 hour shift; Reaches, bends, stoops and wipes
- Must be able to articulate clear greetings and farewells to guests, as well as being able to understand requests for assistance
- Must be able to clearly communicate guests’ needs to team members and managers.
- Must be able to hear well in a loud environment in order to answer telephone and respond to guest requests
- May be required to carry trays or supplies (10-30 lbs.)
- Must be able to calmly respond to angry guests and notify manager of situation
