Job summary

South Coast Winery Resort & spa and Carter Estate Winery and Resort seeks an HR Assistant to provide essential administrative and technical support to the HR Department and serve as a helpful resource to employees and managers. The role emphasizes confidentiality, organization, and customer service in a dynamic hospitality environment.

The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism across channels.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• 1–2 years of related HR or administrative experience.
• Hotel, resort or hospitality experience a plus.
• Working knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Acute attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team.
• Professional communication skills in person, by phone, and email.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative, clerical, technical, and office support to the HR Department.
• Provide excellent customer service to employees, managers, candidates, and visitors in person and by telephone.
• Answer questions regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and general employment matters.
• Lead employee-relations activities, including new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
• Assist with preparation and distribution of employee benefits information and communications.
• Coordinate recruitment and candidate screening activities.
• Prepare Job announcements and advertisements and communicate application and employment status to candidates and management.
• Process personnel action forms and maintain accurate personnel records.
• Coordinate post-offer pre-employment drug screening and other required employment screening.
• Maintain personnel files and records to ensure information is timely and accurate.
• Conduct initial new-hire orientation and assist employees with completing payroll and benefits documentation.
• Handle confidential and sensitive employee information with professionalism and discretion.
• Work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the HR Manager.
