Water's Edge Resort & Spa in Westbrook, CT, seeks an experienced Senior Accountant to join the finance team as Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate will oversee day-to-day hospitality accounting operations and collaborate with senior management to improve efficiency.

The role encompasses A/P, A/R, cash handling, month-end close, budgeting, and timely financial reporting, with a focus on internal controls and operational improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 5 years of hospitality accounting and finance experience.
• Experience creating financial statements and reconciling GL accounts.
• Knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, POS, PMS, and SAGE accounting.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, including A/P and A/R.
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts.
• Prepare and publish monthly financial statements for all entities.
• Provide financial updates to senior management with metrics and reporting.
• Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and guidelines.
• Support departments in achieving budgeted goals with timely analysis.
• Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate regulatory reporting (Federal, State and local).
• Maintain internal control safeguards over cash receipts and expenses.
• Establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards.
