Water’s Edge Resort and Spa is seeking an experienced Accountant with hospitality background to join the finance team as Controller. You will streamline budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting for multiple entities and produce monthly statements for senior management.

The ideal candidate will have 5 years of controller-level accounting experience, strong communication skills, and GAAP knowledge, contributing to improved operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Five years of accounting/finance experience at Controller level.
• Experience creating financial statements and reconciling GL accounts.
• Experience with GL functions and month-end/year-end close.
• Strong knowledge of hospitality and resort metrics.
• Proficient with ERP & office software tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge of Federal and State taxation, and staff management.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department including A/P, A/R, cash management, reconciliations and inventory.
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts.
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements for all entities.
• Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management with key metrics.
• Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
• Support departments in achieving budgeted goals with timely analysis.
• Help develop short and long-term operational strategies.
• Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to GAAP.
• Coordinate regulatory reporting at Federal, State and local levels.
• Maintain internal control safeguards over cash receipts and expenses.
• Establish benchmarks, budgets, and reporting standards with CFO input.
• Enforce internal policies to maximize asset protection.

Description

Water’s Edge Resort and Spa is seeking an experienced Accountant with hospitality experience to work with the finance team in the role of Controller. The ideal candidate will have proven industry experience in financial accounting. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, you will streamline the budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes for multiple entities. You will produce monthly financial reports for senior management and work collaboratively with senior management to improve operational efficiencies.

Primary Tasks

1. Manage day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department including A/P, A/R, cash management, reconciliations and inventory.
2. Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts
3. Prepare and publish, timely, monthly financial statements for all entities
4. Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate metrics.
5. Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
6. Support Departments in achieving budgeted goals with timely analysis.
7. Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies.
8. Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
9. Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting (Federal, State and local)
10. Maintain internal control safeguards over the receipt of cash and payment of expenses
11. In conjunction with the CFO, establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a daily, monthly, and annual basis.
12. Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future guidance.
13. Develop, document and enforce internal controls/processes/policies to maximize protection of company assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• 5 years of overall accounting and finance experience at the Controller level
• Experience creating financial statements and reconciling GL accounts
• Experience with the general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
• High level knowledge of financial metrics with an emphasis on hospitality/resort metrics
• General computer application proficiency (spreadsheets, word processing) POS, PMS, SAGE
• Apply oral or written (legible) communication techniques
• General knowledge of Federal and State taxation
• Ability to manage staff
