Job summary

Blue Bottle is seeking a Shift Supervisor to lead hospitality excellence and uphold cafe standards while driving toward business objectives. The role emphasizes teamwork, continuous learning, and exemplary beverage and food preparation.

Ideal candidates have supervisory experience, complete Barista Essentials, and hold or will obtain Food Safety Certification. The position includes comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth within a culture of sustainability and guest-centric service.

Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year of supervisory experience or experience in team leadership.
• Completed Blue Bottle’s Barista Essentials training and validation program or will complete it within 90 days post-hire
• Existing Food Safety Certification required for the state you will be working in and your specific role or will obtain it within 30 days post-hire
• Basic math and computer skills
• A flexible schedule and availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

• Possess comprehensive knowledge of Cafe expenditures and actively contribute to sales growth initiatives.
• Support ongoing operations and continuous improvement within the cafe, ensuring the right routines, processes, and tools are in place for team success.
• Oversee service flow to uphold safety, cleanliness, quality, and efficiency.
• Execute essential operational duties such as ordering, receiving, and inventory management.
• Follow the Leader on Duty process and checklists to deploy staff, manage breaks, and ensure hospitality and adherence to standards.
• Facilitate onboarding and training of new team members.
• Take responsibility for cash handling and daily deposits.
• Address guest concerns promptly within the cafe.
• Report incidents of illness and injury as per protocol.
• Provide guidance on new menu offerings and procedures. Lead sustainability efforts with the team.
• Prepare and serve beverages and food items to the highest quality standards.
• Supervise high-performing team members and set high standards as a role model.
• Foster curiosity and ongoing learning through tastings, cuppings, and training.
