Responsibilities

• Answer the switchboard in a calm and professional manner.
• Page personnel as authorized and record emergency calls.
• Maintain department on-call schedules.
• Report telephone repair problems to the appropriate areas.
• Monitor alarms in the PBX operator room and alert Engineering when needed.
• Monitor CODE line and respond when alarms activate as authorized.
• Accurately transfer calls to correct extension or department.
• Record information in the Communication Journal.
• Use the CPCS system to facilitate locating patient locations.
