Job summary

St. Mary’s Medical Center in Kansas City, MO seeks a PBX Operator (Per Diem) to manage the hospital switchboard, greet visitors, and route calls to the appropriate departments.

This role also monitors alarms and supports emergency communications, working on a PD/PRN basis as needed. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, PBX or switchboard experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in PBX or switchboard preferred.
• Office/reception experience beneficial.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer and route calls to departments, physicians, or staff promptly and courteously.
• Assist visitors and callers and direct them to proper contacts; handle emergency calls by connecting them to on-call personnel.
• Monitor the telephone system and report malfunctions; maintain logs and messages.
• Coordinate calls and information flow during hospital emergencies or critical events.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with hospital policies.
