Job summary

SGMC Health is seeking a Switchboard Operator for the Main Campus, Hospitality Services. You will screen and route calls, manage on-call schedules, and page physicians as needed, while protecting patient privacy.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, experience with PBX systems, and at least two years in a secretarial role. The position requires flexibility to work varied hours on site.

Qualifications

• The Switchboard Operator must be a high school graduate or hold an equivalent qualification.
• Experience with a multi-line switchboard/PBX system preferred.
• Minimum two years secretarial experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive, screen and transfer high volume calls to recipients professionally.
• Maintain an accurate emergency and page code database for the organization.
• Manage on-call schedules and physician paging via multiple channels.
• Serve as the main information source and emergency contact for the health system.
• Protect patient privacy under HIPAA and maintain confidentiality.
