Job summary

Advocate Sherman Hospital is seeking a Switchboard Coordinator to support the 24/7 communications center. You will supervise the paging system, distribute calls, and ensure accurate information flows to hospital departments.

Responsibilities include monitoring schedules, approving time cards in ReportXpress, handling emergencies, and stepping in as operator during vacations or illnesses. The role requires healthcare CS experience and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 4–5 years experience in customer service in a healthcare setting.
• 2 years lead/coordinator experience or demonstrated leadership potential.
• At least 6 months to 1 year PBX experience.
• 1–2 years PBS software experience.
• 1–2 years call center experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Assists manager with operational duties, performance improvement or process design activities.
• Compiles daily and monthly statistics including operator and department metrics.
• Notifies manager of disciplinary problems involving communication operators.
• Acts as troubleshooter to resolve issues with physicians, patients, and other departments.
• Reviews and approves time cards in ReportXpress.
• Monitors scheduling, vacations, PTO, breaks and lunches.
• Oversees operator audits and provides feedback.
• Maintains and updates department information and on-call schedules.
• Processes pages and alarms for emergencies.
• Communicates information to internal/external customers and directs to appropriate departments.
