Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a dedicated Switchboard Operator to support the Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals, as well as Lahey Outpatient Center in Danvers. Under supervision, you will answer, evaluate and route calls, manage the emergency code line, and document code details in the record system.

You will coordinate with medical staff, funeral homes, and security to ensure timely communication, decedent paperwork, and safe hospital operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Working knowledge of email and Microsoft Office.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Previous switchboard experience preferred.
• SPOK communication console experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer and route incoming calls to hospital locations.
• Monitor emergency code phone and document code information.
• Use two-way radio to update security on emergencies.
• Assist with decedent paperwork and coordinate with funeral homes.
• Monitor safety/security alarms and operating room gas alarms.
• Follow written procedures for emergency codes.
