Job summary

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.
  • NM Speech-Language Pathologist license or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • ASHA CCC-SLP or Clinical Fellowship preferred.
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS certification within 30 days.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, evaluate, educate and treat dysphagia.
  • Evaluate and treat cognitive-communicative disorders after brain injury.
  • Evaluate and treat speech and language disorders.
  • Evaluate and treat patients with tracheostomy tubes and communication devices.
  • Evaluate and treat pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders.
  • Supervise graduate students, clinical fellows and paraprofessionals as delegated.
  • Educate hospital personnel and outside communities as requested.
  • Consult with medical staff on patient care.
  • Document all patient care activities and maintain records.
  • Support data collection for quality monitoring.
  • Establish rapport with patients and staff.
  • Participate in professional development and education.
  • Follow patient safety policies and protocols.
  • Identify and report safety concerns and potential errors.
  • Encourage patient participation in their own care.
  • Administer medications for procedures per Seven Rights; document findings.
