Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Police Officer to provide internal and external safety functions across facilities. Responsibilities include patrolling grounds, escorts, incident reporting, and enforcing hospital policies.

Must maintain firearms and protective tools, respond to emergencies, and participate in investigations as needed. Role requires driving, crisis intervention training, and compliance with safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• BLS Basic Life Support (within 6 months of hire) required.
• Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy Certification (within 6 months of hire) required.
• Non-violent crisis intervention training (within 6 months of hire) required.
• Firearms qualifications; pass bi-annual firearms qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Protect patients, visitors and employees with escorts and patrols.
• Deter criminal activity through routine patrols of hospital property.
• Enforce policies including parking, visitation, drug enforcement, and tobacco policies.
• Monitor CCTV for escalating situations and protective services involvement.
• Intervene in confrontations when appropriate.
• Complete daily activity logs and incident reports.
• Follow emergency procedures and disaster plans.
• Respond to emergencies and hospital alarms.
• Maintain certifications and trainings as required.
• Maintain post and vehicle cleanliness and appearance.
• Uphold attendance, confidentiality, dress code, and ID badge policy.
• Provide law enforcement services including arrests and investigations.
• Take reports of accidents and suspicious activity.
• Maintain proficiency with firearms, ECW, pepper gel, and baton.
