Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Security Officer I for full-time day/afternoon shifts in Illinois. You will patrol hospital buildings and grounds, respond to incidents, monitor access control, alarms and video systems, and provide escorts to staff.

Requirements include a high-school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, IAHSS Basic certification within 90 days, and Basic Life Support within 9 months; Defensive Tactics in Healthcare within 6 months. FOID card preferred.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• IAHSS Basic exam within 90 days of hire.
• Maintain IAHSS Basic certification.
• Current Basic Life Support certification within 9 months of hire.
• Defensive Tactics in Healthcare training within 6 months of hire.

• Physical ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Investigates/quells hospital incidents and disturbances to maintain security.
• Notifies police, fire, and supervisory staff with descriptive reports.
• Patrols hospital perimeters and interior areas to protect staff and property.
• Investigates hazardous conditions, theft, and safety issues.
• Monitors access control, alarms, and video systems.
• Controls traffic to ensure emergency access and patient safety.
• Provides escorts for staff to vehicles as needed.
• Delivers deceased bodies to morgue per policy.
• Responds to emergency codes per guidelines.
• Enforces hospital policies and maintains a professional image.
