Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• IAHSS Basic exam within 90 days of hire; maintain IAHSS Basic certification.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through American Heart Association within 9 months of hire.
• Successful completion of Northwestern Medicine Defensive Tactics in Healthcare within 6 months of hire.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with a variety of individuals.
• Writing skills to complete reports and paperwork meeting departmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Investigates hospital incidents and disturbances to maintain security.
• Completes descriptive reports for supervisory personnel.
• Notifies city officials (police and fire) and prepares descriptive reports.
• Performs regular perimeter and internal patrols of the hospital buildings and grounds.
• Conducts investigations into incidents of hazardous conditions, theft, or security issues.
• Monitors the access control system, alarms, and video system.
• Controls traffic to ensure emergency vehicle access and patient/visitor access.
• Maintains security of restricted areas by checking/locking doors.
• Provides escorts for staff to their vehicles.
• Delivers deceased bodies to the morgue per policy.
• Responds to emergency codes per guidelines.
• Alerts department manager of actions needing follow-up.
• Enforces hospital policies and presents a professional image.
• Conducts contraband searches as needed.
• Monitors individuals/situations to ensure safety.
• Oversees staff parking permit process.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
