Qualifications

• Education required: high-school diploma or GED.
• Licensure: valid driver's license.
• Certification: IAHSS Basic certification within 90 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) within 9 months of hire.
• Northwestern Medicine Defensive Tactics in Healthcare within 6 months of hire.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Physical ability for security duties and vehicle operation.

Responsibilities

• Investigates/quells hospital incidents and disturbances to maintain patient, visitor, and employee security.
• Completes descriptive reports for supervisory personnel.
• Notifies appropriate authorities and prepares reports for supervisory personnel.
• Performs patrols of hospital buildings and grounds to protect patients and property and prevent unauthorized entry.
• Conducts investigations into incidents and hazards; monitors access control, alarms, and video systems.
• Controls traffic to ensure access for emergency vehicles and staff; escorts staff to vehicles as needed.
• Delivers deceased bodies to the morgue and handles releases per policy.
• Responds to emergency codes and informs the Manager of deviations from standards.
