Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Security Officer I to join our Illinois hospital team. You will protect patients, visitors and staff, monitor access, alarms and video systems, and respond to emergencies with a calm, professional presence.

You’ll be part of a security program dedicated to safety and excellent service. The schedule is Friday through Tuesday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with Wednesdays and Thursdays off.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• IAHSS Basic exam within 90 days of hire.
• Maintain IAHSS Basic certification.
• BLS certification within 9 months of hire.
• Defensive Tactics in Healthcare within 6 months of hire.
• Interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Physical ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Investigates hospital incidents to maintain safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Completes descriptive reports for supervisory personnel.
• Notifies city officials and prepares incident reports.
• Performs patrols of hospital buildings and grounds to protect people and property.
• Investigates hazardous conditions, theft, or safety issues.
• Monitors access control, alarms, and video systems.
• Controls traffic for emergency access and helicopter transports.
• Enforces hospital policies and provides escorts to staff.
