Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare is seeking a Security Officer I to protect patients, staff and visitors and safeguard hospital facilities. You will patrol buildings and grounds, respond to alarms, investigate disturbances, and diffuse crises using communication techniques.

Reporting to the Lead Security Officer, this role requires a high school diploma and 1+ year security or law enforcement experience. Flexibility with shifts and weekends may be required to ensure patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 1+ years as a Law Enforcement Officer, Deputy Sheriff, Military Service, or Security Officer.
• Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

• Protect staff, patients, and visitors from violent encounters involving irate patients, visitors, or staff.
• Patrol hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
• Check cars for parking authorization decal and determine if vehicles are parked in restricted areas; write parking violations as appropriate.
• Periodically tour buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows, and gates to ensure security.
