Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Security Officer to patrol, monitor assigned areas, and respond to security and life safety issues under the direction of the Senior Manager, Security Services. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, basic computer literacy, and adherence to policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• AVADE (Workplace Violence Prevention training) required within three months of hire.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills required.
• Demonstrated basic computer skills required.
• Demonstrated good judgment required; ability to interpret and adhere to written and verbal instructions.
• 1 year experience / 21 years of age.
• Healthcare or law enforcement experience preferred.
• Weekend and holiday availability required.
• Handcuffing certification within 2 weeks of hire.
• IAHSS basic certification within 90 days of hire.
• Exposure to OC spray training.
• BLS within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Respond to security and life safety issues as needed.
• Demonstrates competence in interior security duties.
• Tour buildings and grounds; minimum 4 rounds per shift.
• Detain or question unauthorized persons; contact police when needed.
• Use emergency fire equipment appropriately.
• Record safety violations and malfunctions.
• Check for weapons/contraband; confiscate as required.
• Notify police in appropriate situations.
• Respond to all calls for assistance promptly.
• Maintain 100% response rate and complete shift reports.
• Complete incident, injury, and other security forms.
• Maintain security equipment and environment.
• Adhere to confidentiality and safety guidelines.
