Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Security Officer to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. You will patrol, report hazards, and cooperate with law enforcement when needed, exercising discretion and strong customer service.

The role requires the ability to investigate incidents, write clear reports, and maintain confidential information while ensuring effective security operations in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree Criminal Justice preferred. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.
• Licenses: Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License [State License].
• Experience: 3-5 years in hospital, security/police, emergency medical or customer services preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills; able to interact with all people.
• Ability to de-escalate anxious/stressed people and manage aggression.
• Works independently and in teams; able to multitask.
• Strong problem-solving, judgment, and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas, with focus on high-risk locations.
• Identify unsafe conditions to prevent theft and injuries.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Investigate thefts or criminal misconduct; notify law enforcement; detain suspects when appropriate.
• Prepare and submit written reports; log incidents; inform supervisor.
