Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare is seeking a Security Officer to protect staff, patients, visitors and property on campus and off-site properties. You will monitor for hazards, respond to emergencies, and assist with incident command as needed, using training and approved procedures.

Level I–III responsibilities include deterrence, reporting, and coordination with law enforcement, with opportunities for advancement through on-site training such as aggression management and NIMS certifications.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Valid Illinois driver's license.
• Basic computer skills.
• Read and write detailed reports.
• Able to respond calmly and efficiently to emergency and critical confrontations.
• Professional and courteous when dealing with staff and public of all age groups.
• Maintain a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
• Experience: Requires experience with the public in a service environment. Security experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as physical deterrent and visible presence to maintain safety.
• Responds quickly to highly stressful critical and emergency response situations.
• Assists with Incident Command situations, psychiatric patients evaluations and management, duress alarms, conflict situations, and hazardous materials/waste spills.
• Operates and maintains onsite patient transport shuttle as assigned.
