Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 8 Hour pre-employment Security Course and 16 Hours on the Job Training Course.
• New York State Security Guard License.
• Adult CPR course.
• Security or military background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides protection for medical center patients, employees and visitors, by staffing assigned post and patrolling areas.
• Responds to Security Alerts and assists with emergencies and requests for service.
• Performs access control by checking IDs, screening visitors and issuing Visitor Passes.
• Directs vehicle traffic to prevent congestion and ensures ambulance bays are clear.
• Detains individuals not authorized to be on the premises and escorts to appropriate areas.
• Submits timely and complete reports on all security activity.
• Conducts security escorts within the Medical Center and to adjacent staff residences.
• Escorts funds and valuables to the Security Office.
• Maintains building safety patrols to prevent theft and unlawful activity.
• Responds to fire alarms and other emergencies to support crowd control.
