Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician to work under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. You will assist in compounding, preparing, labeling, and dispensing drugs, including sterile products, and help with inventory, delivery, and unit-dose packaging.

The role requires NY registration and PTCB/NHA certification, with preferred hospital experience and sterile compounding skills. A temporary appointment is offered, with compliance steps prior to start.

Qualifications

• Current NY State Registered Pharmacy Technician license and registration.
• Current PTCB or NHA Pharmacy Technician certification.
• Hospital Pharmacy Technician experience (preferred: 1+ years).
• Associate's degree or higher (preferred).
• Experience in sterile compounding (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Batch-manufacture parenteral solutions using aseptic technique.
• Prepare sterile products for dispensing to patients of the facility.
• Assist in compounding oral dosage forms for patients.
• Deliver medication to patient care areas.
• Restock dispensing areas and automated cabinets, including controlled drugs.
• Receive drug shipments into inventory and check for outdates.
• Complete patient care unit inspections.
• Repackage medications from bulk to unit-dose packages.
• Assist in labeling of medication for dispensing.
• Answer calls and route to appropriate staff.
• Assist at the dispensing window.
• Process invoices and file inventory paperwork.
