Qualifications

• MA Registered Pharmacy Technician with National Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) or a MA Registered Pharmacy Technician and obtaining National certification (PTCB or ExCPT) within 180 days of hire
• Demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet the requirements of this job description.
• Previous hospital pharmacy experience and sterile compounding experience preferred.
• Accurate math skills required.

Responsibilities

• Delivers medication to patient care units in accordance with policies and regulations.
• Accurately fills medications.
• Delivers medications to automated dispensing machines (ADMs) in a timely manner.
• Ensures all drug distribution functions are completed safely and with supervision as needed.
• Repackages and compounds medications per SOPs as required.
• Interview patients for medication histories when certified and perform outreach as needed.
• Maintains inventory, rotates stock and flags low levels to pharmacy leadership.
• Receives and submits Prior Authorization requests when applicable.
• Organizes outdated or overstocked medications for return to manufacturers.
• Checks floor stock on nursing stations daily.
• Orders scheduled VI medications per directive from leadership.
• Utilizes technology effectively to perform duties.
• Handles telephone triage and follow-up actions.
• Understands sterile, non-sterile, and hazardous medication handling.
