Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC is seeking a student enrolled in a full-time accredited pharmacy program to join the pharmacy team as an intern pharmacist. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assisting with drug distribution, IV admixture, Pyxis operations, and patient counseling, while gaining hands-on experience in a high-acuity hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Specialized/technical training required.
• Student enrolled in a full-time accredited pharmacy school program.
• Basic knowledge of drug trade, generic names and pharmacy calculations.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service behavior.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Intern Pharmacist (CA BOP) status required.
• Fire Life Safety Training required; obtain within 30 days (LA City only).

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assist in drug distribution and IV admixture.
• Operate Pyxis systems and ensure medications are barcoded.
• Maintain CMS/CII Pyxis inventory and accurate controlled substances records.
• Prepare and dispense medications with pharmacist verification.
• Assist in patient counseling under supervision and participate in clinical assignments.
• Document pharmacy logs daily and support triage of workflow using Cerner/PowerChart.
• Repackaging/unit-dosing with MILT4 and ensure aseptic technique.
