Job summary

GBMC HealthCare in Baltimore is hiring a patient transporter to move patients, specimens, equipment and supplies throughout the Medical Center. Under supervision, you will use stretchers, wheelchairs and beds while ensuring patient dignity and safety.

You must have a High School diploma or GED, CPR certification within 30 days, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds (assistance available for heavier lifts). teamwork and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalency, or equivalent work experience.
• Heart Saver CPR certification within 30 days of start date.
• Ability to transport and transfer patients, including morgue patients.
• Manual dexterity for handling patients, equipment and supplies.
• Ability to push, pull, lift up to 50 pounds and transport patients up to 250 pounds with assistance as needed.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients, specimens, equipment and supplies using stretchers, wheelchairs and beds.
• Assists in lifting patients onto/off transport conveyance and ensures correct patient identification and dignity.
• Maintains cleanliness of stretchers and transport equipment.
• Transports equipment, specimens and supplies to designated areas.
