Job summary

R1 RCM Inc. in Wichita, KS, is seeking a Financial Counseling Representative to join our on-site team. In this patient-facing role, you’ll assist uninsured and underinsured patients with understanding their coverage and financial assistance options.

Expect travel between hospital floors and in-room visits to assess needs and eligibility. You’ll explain Medicaid, Marketplace coverage, hospital financial assistance, and other programs, help complete applications, gather documents, and communicate

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Compassion and professionalism when discussing sensitive personal and financial information.
• Ability to explain complex information in clear, simple language.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple systems and priorities.
• Ability to navigate and work efficiently across multiple systems with ease.
• Ability to work on-site, move regularly between multiple hospital floors, and meet with patients in their rooms throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Travel between hospital floors and visit patients in their rooms to review financial needs.
• Screen for potential eligibility for Medicaid, Marketplace coverage, hospital financial assistance, and other programs.
• Help patients complete applications and gather required documents.
• Clearly explain coverage options, application steps, and next steps.
• Discuss estimated patient responsibility and payment options, and support collection of amounts due.
• Track application status, follow up on missing information, and document activity.
• Protect patient privacy and coordinate with clinical, Patient Access, and revenue cycle teams.
• Balance compassionate service, accuracy, and productivity in a fast-paced hospital setting.
