Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System in Lake Charles, LA is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide compassionate, safe patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You will use hospital technology for charting and collaborate with the care team to support daily patient needs.

Qualifications

• High school graduate/GED preferred. Prior experience as a Nursing Assistant in a hospital setting may substitute.
• Graduate of an approved Nursing Assistant Training Program preferred.
• CPR certified preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally with patient, family, peers and medical personnel; ability to exercise independent judgment.
• Requires emotional stability, adaptability, decisiveness and leadership ability.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in use of technology and computers for patient charting and related functions.
• Provides physical patient care in a safe manner under the direction of the Licensed Nurse.
• Performs or assists patient with activities of daily living (showering, bathing, dressing, feeding, activity).
• Communicates abnormal variances of data (vital signs, pain, etc) to appropriate staff.
• Collects information regarding patient/patient condition: vital signs, intake and output, food intake.
• Participates in best practices such as huddles, hourly rounding, bedside reporting and Service Excellence.
• Collaborates with unit staff to provide coordinated patient care.
• Utilizes unit specific equipment competently.
• Competently performs unit specific procedures.
• Understands and participates in Unit PI plan; makes suggestions for improvement.
• Follows established hospital/department safety policies.
• Responds appropriately to the unique cultural variables of patients and staff.
