Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide safe, bedside patient care under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse. You will document with hospital systems, assist with daily living activities, and monitor patient data as part of a collaborative care team.

The role requires basic computer skills, strong communication, and emotional stability to adapt to a fast-paced hospital environment. Weekend work may be required and a CPR certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; hospital NA experience may substitute education.
• Graduate of an approved Nursing Assistant Training Program preferred.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to communicate professionally with patients, families, peers and medical personnel; exercise independent judgment.
• Requires emotional stability and maturity; adaptable to change; exhibits organizational and leadership ability.

Responsibilities

• Provides physical patient care under the direction of the Licensed Nurse.
• Demonstrates competency in use of technology for patient charting and related functions.
• Assists with activities of daily living (showering, bathing, dressing, feeding).
• Communicates abnormal data (vital signs, pain) to staff.
• Collects information on patient condition (vital signs, intake/output).
• Participates in huddles, bedside reporting, and Service Excellence initiatives.
• Collaborates with unit staff to provide coordinated patient care.
• Uses unit equipment competently and performs unit-specific procedures.
