Qualifications

• High school graduate; GED preferred.
• Prior hospital NA experience may substitute education.
• Graduate of an approved Nursing Assistant Training Program preferred.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally with patient, family, peers, and medical personnel; ability to exercise independent judgment.
• Emotional stability, adaptability, decisiveness and leadership ability.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in use of technology and computers for patient charting and related functions.
• Provides physical patient care under the direction of the Licensed Nurse.
• Performs or assists with activities of daily living (showering, bathing, dressing, feeding).
• Communicates abnormal variances of data (vital signs, pain) to appropriate staff.
• Collects information regarding patient condition, vital signs, intake and output, food intake.
• Uses basic decision making to complete routine tasks.
• Participates in huddles, hourly rounding, bedside reporting, Service Excellence, and use of white boards.
• Collaborates with unit staff to provide coordinated patient care.
• Utilizes unit equipment competently and performs unit-specific procedures.
• Participates in Unit PI plan and makes suggestions for improvements.
• Follows established hospital/department safety policies.
• Understands and responds to cultural variables in interactions.
