Job summary

Insight Hospital and Medical Center Chicago is seeking a Nursing Supervisor / Intake Coordinator to oversee hospital-wide operations, patient flow, and bed placement. The role coordinates with multiple departments to ensure timely care and optimal capacity management.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, managing surge capacity, handling behavioral health intake, and facilitating referrals and authorizations to support safe, efficient patient disposition.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Nursing license required. ADN required; BSN preferred.
• Current CPR and ACLS certification required. PALS Preferred.
• Knowledge of major mental health and substance-use disorders across the age continuum.
• Strong clinical assessment, disposition skills, and ability to manage patient flow.

Responsibilities

• Provides hospital-wide operational oversight and situational awareness during assigned shifts.
• Directs patient placement, bed coordination, and discharge planning.
• Screens for behavioral health needs and coordinates referrals and coverage.
• Verifies medical coverage and collects clinical information for authorization.
• Ensures safe transitions of care and escalation when needed.
