Job summary

University West Pet Clinic in Clive, IA is seeking a Hospital Manager to lead our expanding team and ensure profitable operations with excellent patient care and client service. This role requires regular on-site presence and cross-functional collaboration with the Managing Veterinarian to drive revenue and control costs.

The ideal candidate has a background in retail, services, or healthcare, plus 3–5 years in a managerial role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years in a managerial role, including customer service experience.
• Experience in hospital, retail, or service industry with increasing responsibility is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own P&L and be accountable for hospital performance.
• Forecast needs with regional leadership and monitor trends.
• Manage accounts receivable and payroll.
• Oversee inventory, costs, and labor scheduling.
• Lead workflow improvements and implement new technologies.
• Maintain licensures for DVMs and ensure top client service.
• Set culture and handle difficult conversations with staff.

Your role will drive revenue, manage costs, and cultivate a hospital culture focused on top-notch patient care and exceptional customer service. You will oversee the planning and coordination of hospital operations while creating a supportive and cohesive team environment. Given the managerial responsibilities and the need for in-person interaction with clients and employees, regular on-site attendance is a fundamental requirement for this position. Responsibilities

• Complete ownership of P&L, accountable for the hospital's performance
• Collaborate with regional leadership to identify trends and forecast the hospital's needs
• Manage accounts receivable
• Oversee hospital inventory and control facility and administrative costs
• Manage payroll for hospital staff
• Develop the hospital schedule and manage labor costs
• Champion change and identify, document, share, and promote best practices
• Lead the hospital team to enhance processes and workflows, covering client service, operations, and administrative tasks
• Implement new technologies and initiatives to improve operational efficiency
• Establish and drive the culture of the hospital
• Track and maintain current licensures for all DVMs
• Provide feedback and handle challenging conversations
• Demonstrate and reinforce the highest level of client service

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in a managerial role, including customer service experience
• Experience in a hospital, retail, or service-based industry setting in positions of increased responsibility is a plus
