Job summary

Tenet Healthcare is seeking a Mobility Technician to support safe patient transfers, repositioning, and ambulation within the hospital setting. You will educate staff on proper use of mobility equipment and assist in early mobility initiatives to improve outcomes and safety.

The role integrates with rehabilitation and nursing teams, requiring proactive rounding, strong communication, and adherence to safe patient handling protocols. BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• One year of clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Solid understanding of body mechanics, mobility, and safe transfer techniques.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and situational awareness skills.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by the AHA is required.

Responsibilities

• Support nursing and therapy teams in safely mobilizing patients — transfers, lifts, ambulation, and repositioning.
• Educate and coach staff on mobility aids, lift equipment, and safe movement techniques.
• Promote early and progressive mobility with therapy and nursing teams.
• Proactively round on assigned units to identify patients for activity progression.
• Support fall prevention strategies and monitor patient skin integrity.
• Coach patients during mobility activities to encourage independence and reinforce therapy techniques.
• Maintain lift equipment and mobility devices; ensure staff adherence to safety protocols.
• Assist in early mobility programs and monitor performance against mobility benchmarks.
• Document mobility activity, patient response, and level of assistance in the EMR.
• Collaborate with therapy and nursing teams to prevent falls, pressure injuries, and musculoskeletal strain.
• Participate in quality improvement and data collection on functional outcomes.
