Job summary

PACS is seeking a reliable cook to manage the hospital kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. The role requires preparing meals in large quantities, following menus and ensuring sanitary conditions. You will assist with serving, help with special diets, and participate in staff training.

Education includes a high school diploma or equivalent; hospital cooking experience is preferred, and a ServSafe certificate must be maintained. Strong reading and math skills support daily operations.

Qualifications

  • Education and/or experience: high school diploma or equivalent; hospital/long-term care cook experience preferred.
  • Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certificate.
  • Ability to read and follow technical procedures and recipes.
  • Good standing with health department and understanding of safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
  • Prepare meals in large quantities and follow prepared menus and portion controls.
  • Prepare special diets and monitor temperatures of meals.
  • Assist with serving meals and keep cleaning schedules in line with standards.
  • Report resident care concerns to the Administrator or Director of Nurses.
  • Participate in orientation and training of dietary staff.
