Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in Hamilton, NJ is seeking a full‑time day cook to prepare, season and cook meals for patients, cafe, meals on wheels and special events while upholding sanitary standards.

You will follow recipes, monitor temperatures, manage daily production, minimize waste and work with staff to serve nutritious meals to patients and visitors.

Role offers hourly pay of $16.00–$19.00, with benefits and growth opportunities within the hospital’s Food Service department.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to speak, read and write English.
• Preferred: one year hotel/restaurant cooking experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares required amount of food to cover meals.
• Follows recipes when preparing food.
• Tastes food for quality assurance.
• Monitors temperatures daily in compliance with codes.
• Stores and labels food properly.
• Follows cleaning schedule and maintains sanitation.
• Works with staff, patients, and customers to meet service standards.
• Prepares fresh products daily and reviews production sheets.
• Minimizes waste and overproduction.
• Rotates foods using FIFO+A95 method.
• Operates other stations when needed.
• Attends department and hospital meetings when scheduled.
