Saint Agnes Medical Center seeks a Security K9 Handler to join our full-time rotating shift team. The role safeguards staff, patients, and visitors, conducting canine-assisted patrols, incident prevention, and security operations across SAMC sites.

The ideal candidate holds a BSIS guard card, California driver license, and AHA CPR certification, with strong communication and teamwork skills to operate effectively in a high-stress healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Three years as a certified K9 Handler with current certification.
• Security, police, military, or law enforcement experience required; related experience may be substituted with approval.
• Current BSIS guard card registration for California required.
• Valid California driver license with good driving record.
• Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification required on hire.
• Strong written and verbal communication; customer-focused and calm under stress.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of criminal/civil laws and investigations; behavior health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors; protect life and property.
• Perform K9 security duties, patrols, and crime prevention.
• De-escalate incidents and enforce safety policies.
• Administer first aid/CPR as needed; assist with firearms and explosive detection per procedures.
