Job summary

Mercy Medical Center, Inc. seeks a Security Canine Officer to safeguard patients, visitors, and staff by patrolling hospital grounds and facilities. The officer will handle canine duties and assist with security operations, reporting, and incident documentation.

Required is a high school diploma or GED plus relevant experience in law enforcement or healthcare security; travel and certifications may be involved to meet hospital safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Must possess a minimum of two years of experience in law enforcement or public contract security, or one year of healthcare security experience.
• Experience with and knowledge of security/law enforcement canine handling is preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Security Canine Officer will utilize a canine animal in the performance of duties to provide a secure environment for patient care functions by patrolling buildings, property and grounds and protecting patients, visitors and staff; respond to and assist with mitigating security issues.
