Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore is seeking a Security Canine Officer to patrol properties, respond to incidents, and support investigations. You will operate access control, CCTV, and the Incident Report System while ensuring safety for patients, visitors, and staff.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and security experience; healthcare security experience is a plus. Training through IAHSS and Mercy Canine Unit is part of the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years of law enforcement or public contract security experience, or one year of healthcare security experience.
• Experience with security/law enforcement canine handling is preferred.
• Ability to obtain a Special Police Commission through the City of Baltimore Police Department.
• Attend IAHSS training as a Healthcare Security Officer if offered.
• Complete Mercy Canine Unit canine handler course.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and patrol properties to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and staff.
• Respond to security incidents and mitigate risks.
• Assist with investigations and incident reporting.
• Operate security equipment and systems, including access control, CCTV, and the computerized Incident Report System.
• Maintain the health and safety of the canine partner.
