Job summary

Join the Magic: Disneyland Resort seeks a Security K9 Handler to work with a company-assigned canine partner across parks, hotels, and resort locations. You will support security screening, respond to incidents, document occurrences, and deliver Guest-focused service in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include detection of prohibited items, K9 searches, conflict resolution, emergency response, and weekly canine training.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid California driver’s license with no moving violations in the past 12 months.
• Ability to obtain BSIS license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain NAPWDA certification.
• Minimum of 3 years dog handling experience in Military, Law Enforcement, or private sector.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Security Screening: work with canine partner to detect prohibited items in various environments; perform Guest screening and K9 searches of vehicles, buildings, open areas and unattended items; act as a visible deterrent.
• Guest Interaction: provide conflict resolution and Guest Service; train and collaborate with team members and external partners.
• Emergency Response: respond to incidents including emergencies and evacuations; apply critical thinking under duress.
• K9 Care & Training: maintain weekly training and required certifications; travel to offsite training; care for the canine partner (feeding, bathing, kennel maintenance).
• Demonstrate observation and critical thinking to identify suspicious behavior; conduct behavioral assessments.
• Maintain focus in loud, crowded, potentially stressful environments.
• Shift availability: full availability for any shift, seven days a week, including nights, weekends and holidays.
