Job summary

Howard University Hospital is seeking an HVAC/R Technician I to monitor, inspect and maintain critical hospital systems 24/7. You will work under supervision within Engineering, handling chillers, steam systems, heat exchangers and air handling equipment to ensure safe patient care and compliance with Joint Commission standards.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a completed Journeyman program, 5 years of HVAC/R experience and a Universal Refrigeration License.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Journeyman program.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with HVAC/R systems.
• Universal Refrigeration License (non-automotive) required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install and repair HVAC/R equipment including chillers, air handling systems, heat exchangers and cooling towers.
• Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes per work requests.
• Study drawings and manuals to diagnose equipment problems.
• Maintain and replace valves, fittings and steam systems.
• Perform repairs on refrigeration and air conditioning systems and hot water systems.
• Prepare and record preventive maintenance documentation.
• Keep records of compliance with regulations and standards.
