Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking an HVAC/R Technician I to inspect, troubleshoot, repair and maintain campus HVAC, refrigeration, steam and related equipment. You will work under supervision in the Engineering department to ensure safe operations in compliance with state, federal and Joint Commission standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a Journeyman program, five years of HVAC/R experience and a Universal Refrigeration License.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of a Journeyman program.
• Five years of HVAC/R experience.
• Universal Refrigeration License (non-automotive).
• Knowledge of heating and cooling air handling systems.
• Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions.
• Strong safety awareness and compliance with regulations.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install and repair HVAC/R equipment including chillers and air handling systems.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain steam and piping systems.
• Study engineering drawings and manuals to diagnose problems.
• Maintain records and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Prepare and record preventive maintenance documentation.
• Prepare stock repair parts lists and project material lists.
