Job summary

Melrose/Wakefield Hospital is seeking a Full-time General Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of maintenance tasks across hospital buildings and grounds. The role covers trades such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting, with a focus on safety and reliability.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year in building maintenance, plus on-the-job training in trades. Two years in building maintenance and vocational training are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of building maintenance.
• On the job training in one or more building trades.
• Completion of a vocational/trade school program (preferred).
• Two years of building maintenance experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical repairs such as switches, ballasts and motors as assigned.
• Carry out plumbing tasks including drains and fixtures as assigned.
• Perform minor carpentry such as doors, shelving, locks, etc.
• Repair plaster, brickwork or concrete and weld materials as needed.
• Provide preventive maintenance on hospital equipment and systems.
• Inspect and repair safety equipment throughout the hospital.
• Assist with snow removal and sanding functions as required.
