Job summary

Health & Human Services Comm is seeking a Food Service Manager II at Austin State Hospital to oversee state hospital kitchens and state supported living center kitchens. You will lead cooks, enforce portion controls, and ensure meals meet menus and dietary guidelines.

The role requires supervision of food service staff, documentation, and adherence to safety standards. A CFSM certification or progression toward it is required, with potential for overtime and shift flexibility.

Qualifications

• 36 months of experience leading food service workers or meal prep teams.
• Two years of experience in food service oversight.
• Certified Food Service Manager or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Confirm food preparation controls and quantities are maintained using weighing/measuring tools.
• Monitor portions and ensure consistency across meals and staff.
• Collaborate with cooks on recipes, menus, and preparation methods.
• Supervise procurement, inventory, and reporting for food service operations.
• Ensure meals are prepared and served according to schedules and standards.
