Job summary

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is hiring a Food Service Worker II at Big Spring State Hospital. The role involves routine kitchen work, portioning and serving meals, and maintaining sanitation in central and satellite kitchens.

You will train new staff, follow HACCP guidelines, and assist with special diets under supervision. The position is full-time, day shift, with monthly pay and comprehensive benefits including health insurance and retirement.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of food preparation methods and sanitation standards.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and follow written instructions.
• Ability to speak and read English and follow HACCP guidelines.
• Familiarity with preparing food for regular and therapeutic diets.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular basis and may work a specific shift, overtime as needed.
• Prepares and portions food for special diets.
• Distributes and serves food; maintains sanitation of areas and equipment.
• Trains or assists in training new kitchen staff; ensures compliance with safety procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned including disaster response or COOP.
