Job summary

UC Irvine is seeking a Facilities Operations Manager to oversee all mechanical systems including HVAC, steam, plumbing, medical gas and electrical for the Medical Center. You will lead safety programs, improve energy efficiency, and drive reliability and budget adherence under the Director of Facilities and Safety Services.

Ideal candidates bring 5–7 years of management in healthcare facility operations, strong regulatory knowledge, and a mechanical engineering background.

Qualifications

• Must have strong organization and project management skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities with strategic planning.
• Experience in healthcare facilities engineering operations and building systems.
• Familiarity with regulations and codes (Joint Commission and hospital requirements).
• Minimum 5–7 years managerial experience in a large facility.
• Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations of mechanical systems: HVAC, steam, plumbing, medical gas and electrical.
• Develop and implement programs to improve safety, reliability and energy efficiency.
• Support Director in overseeing plant operations and managing budgets.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, policies and standards; participate in meetings and committees.
