Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission is seeking a Custodian II for the Austin State Hospital facility. The role supports housekeeping services in a health care setting, with day shift, full-time, non-exempt status.

Responsibilities include custodial tasks, equipment operation, sanitation, and inventory management, with opportunities to participate in safety and disaster response procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months’ custodial or environmental services experience.
• Preferred: healthcare or hospital/ nursing home environment experience.
• Must pass fingerprint background check, pre-employment drug screen and registry checks, policy immunizations.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning windows and fixtures.
• Operate floor maintenance equipment (strippers, buffers, vacuums, extractors).
• Maintain and sanitize floors, restrooms, nurses’ stations, and other areas per procedures and safety.
• Restock supplies and maintain custodial equipment records.
• Assist in inspections, minor repairs, and outdoor area upkeep.
• Support disaster response/COOP activation when required.
• Complete documentation accurately and maintain inventory records.
