Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission in Brenham seeks a Custodian II to join the housekeeping team. The role provides a stable, full-time opportunity to maintain clean and safe environments for residents and staff in a state facility.

The job involves dusting, disinfecting, floor care, operating maintenance equipment, restocking supplies, and assisting with minor repairs. Training other custodians and maintaining records are also included.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning methods, standards, and sanitation regulations.
• Knowledge of infection control principles and methods.
• Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.
• Skill in use of custodial equipment, materials and the safe handling chemicals.
• Skill in use and maintenance of building maintenance tools and equipment.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand/walk on hard floors for extended period.
• Ability to work harmoniously and productively with co-workers and residents.

Responsibilities

• Attends work regularly and may be scheduled for specific shifts or rotating schedules.
• Performs custodial tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting and cleaning fixtures.
• Cleans and maintains floor care, restroom and patient areas.
• Operates floor maintenance equipment and restocks supplies as needed.
• Assists in minor building repairs and in training other custodians.
• Maintains custodial equipment and inventories; reports needed repairs.
• Supports disaster response and COOP activation as required.
