Job summary

Mercyhealth in Rockford, IL seeks an Environmental Services Technician to clean patient rooms and general areas, restock supplies, and prepare spaces for new patients. The role requires following infection prevention standards and proper chemical use, while maintaining EVS equipment and reporting hazards.

You will operate Xenex UV Light and use EPIC bed-tracking where available, with strict safety practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous cleaning experience is helpful.
• Knowledge of infection prevention standards.
• DOT certification required to package and transport regulated medical waste.

Responsibilities

• Clean patient rooms, common areas, and equipment thoroughly.
• Restock supplies and prepare rooms for incoming patients.
• Follow infection prevention standards and safety procedures.
• Mix and store cleaning chemicals with correct dilution.
• Operate Xenex UV Light robot where available and report issues.
• Maintain EVS closet and cart in orderly condition.
• Respond to supervisor calls and log activities in EPIC bed-tracking.
• Adhere to waste handling regulations and safety lifting procedures.
